Kids In Action organised a family fun day to celebrate a year since they moved to their base at the Apex Business Centre.
The charity supports children, adults and families living with special needs and disabilities.
The Mayor of Dunstable, Liz Jones, was the special guest on the day, she has chosen Kids In Action as one of her charity’s to support this year.
There was something for everyone at the fun day, a bouncy castle, games, stalls and a special climbing wall suitable for wheelchairs.
Paul Bowen-James set up the charity in 1996 and this was the first family fun day they have organised.
He said: “The fun day went really well, we had a great turn out and the weather was excellent.
“Three guys from Santander, Dunstable, came down for the day, the bank has adopted us as their charity of the year, and they have said anything we raised on the day they would match.
“That is really generous of them and it is great for the community that local businesses want to help.”
One of the parents and his brother volunteered to get their legs waxed raising over £700.
Paul wants to create a multimedia room for the young people who visit the centre.
He said: “The multimedia room is an exciting project and will cost us £15,000, we have already raised £8000.
“We raised £1,370 on the stalls and £780 from the leg wax, altogether we raised £2150 on the day, it really was a great day and very successful.
“The money raised will go towards paying for the room and equipment.”
