A day of fun and festivities is being planned to put the Christmas sparkle back in Dunstable.
Spearheaded by The Grove Theatre and supported by local businesses and organisations, plans are taking shape for a day long list of events on December 6 providing something for everyone.
Events are timed to happen in Market Square, the Quadrant and The Grove, throughout the day, encouraging shoppers to move through the town to experience a host of different experiences.
There will be childrens’ entertainments, the Salvation Army band, arts and crafts, a fun fair, a Christmas craft fair, community performances and a Santa’s grotto.
The whole event will be rounded off with a Christmas lights switch on with the cast of the Grove’s panto, Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood, at the theatre.
Organisers are hoping to include more of the town, including re-introducing the Christmas float, which could attend school fairs on the day.
There are also plans for a Dunstable Christmas song, with schools being invited to take part in a video next month, which will then be broadcast at the event.
The extravaganza will follow on from the annual Dunstable Town Council Christmas Carols and Torchlight procession to be held on Friday, December 5.
Fundraising is already taking place but anyone who would like to help sponsor the event or get involved can contact The Grove Theatre marketing department at marketing.grove2@1life.co.uk or call 01582 884194.
