To celebrate the centenary of the Women’s Institute, Dunstable Priory was adorned with flowers in a special festival on Saturday.
The blooming bouquets were shown to their best advantage in the magnificent setting of the medieval church.
WI secretary Rebecca Chamberlain said: “It’s just one of a series of events we’re doing for the 100th anniversary.
“And it was absolutely stunning, some of the displays were exquisite in the old church. It was absolutely beautiful.”
WI groups from across Bedfordshire came together to take part in the mass flower display.
WI member Elizabeth Cochrane came from Bedford with her group to display her floral arrangements at the priory.
She said: “It went very well. It’s something the WI do as part of a tradition, flower arranging, along with other things like baking it’s a big part of our history.
“For the centenary of the WI this year we’ve done lots of events, our last flower show on this scale was about four or five years ago.
“The flowers looked absolutely amazing. It’s difficult to choose the best when your part of that membership!
“It’s a medieval church and it was brought to life in such a way with the flowers.”
And members were thrilled to meet each other from other groups.
Mrs Cochrane added: “We don’t always meet that often so it’s nice when you get the different WIs together.”
