A 21-year old man was arrested after three cars collided in Dunstable town centre last night – bringing traffic to a standstill.
Two people were taken to Luton & Dunstable hospital after the crash, which happened at around 7.10pm yesterday (March 19) on High Street North.
Three cars, a Kier, Golf and Volkswagen, were all damaged. One car had smashed into the railings outside the Nags Head pub on the corner of West Street.
One witness said: “I heard this loud bang and the red car was smashed into the railings.
“Then, four people jumped out the back of the car and ran on to the pavement.”
Beds Police, Beds Fire and Rescue Service and East of England Ambulance all attended the scene.
A Beds police spokesman said: “We were called at 7.13pm about a three-car collision on High Street North.
“One 21-year-old man from Stevenage was arrested at the scene for failing a roadside drugs test and has since been bailed.”
And East of England Ambulance spokesman confirmed they had treated two patients who were both taken to Luton & Dunstable hospital. It is not thought their injuries were serious.
