Friends of Guiding, a group of parents who support the Guides, raised £160 for the Brownies at an event on Monday, June 16, at Windy Sayles.
The 4th Houghton Regis Brownies organised a barbeque, to raise money for a fund to celebrate their centenary year.
David Skinner, leader of Friends Of Guiding, said: “We helped put this event together to raise money for the Brownies fund, I set up this group to support the leaders.
“There are various ages in the guiding movement, Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers, and this is a way for parents to get involved and support the groups.”
One of the parents, Laurence Cox, was sponsored to get his legs waxed to help raise more money.
Ann-Marie Rigby, the pack leader, also known as Kanga, said: “I’m really grateful to the group for their support, it takes some of the admin pressure off me so I can get on working with the girls.
“The money will help us have a fabulous finale to celebrate our centenary year, if we did not raise money through fundraising, we would have to ask the parents or use the subs.”
