It’s time to check the piggy bank now that the overall council tax bill has been set for households in Dunstable and Houghton Regis for 2014/15.
The total council tax bill for average Band D households for the next financial year will be £1,724.14 in Dunstable, and £1,727.76 in Houghton.
The lion’s share of the bill will pay for services from Central Beds Council, previously outlined in the Gazette.
And the overall bill also includes charges for town or parish council, police and fire services.
There is no rise in the amount that average Band D householders will pay for Central Beds Council services in 2014/15 – that remains at £1,308.33.
They will pay £156.55 towards police services in the next financial year, an increase of £3.06.
And there will be an £87.48 charge for fire services in 2014/15, up from £85.77.

A broad range of services are provided by the town council team.
Planned projects include a new skate park for the town, to be built on land behind Gobowling.
Dunstable Town Council and Central Beds Council are working together on the skate park scheme.
Funding for this project includes cash from developers under Section 106 planning agreements.
> The overall council tax bill for Houghton households in average Band D includes £175.40 for services from Houghton Regis Town Council in 2014/15.
That sum has been frozen at the same level as the current year.
On top of the town council’s wide range of services, the team will also continue to work towards creating a new cemetery and allotments.
