A Studham father and his daughter were worried they had begun to drift apart – so they decided to write a book together to keep them close.

Terry McGovern and Jodie Hall feared they weren’t spending enough time together after Jodie moved to Letchworth 10 years ago.

But at a family gathering four years ago, the pair had came up with the idea to write Woman With Inheritance.

The book centres around a group of 12 women coping with the simultaneous deaths of their husbands who died in a plane crash returning from a golfing holiday.

Terry, 61, said: “It’s not about knitting, it’s races and salsa lessons – these are WWI people, not WI people.”

Terry hosted a launch event at his home for the whole village. So far they have sold around 50 copies.

Jodie added: “It’s a feelgood British story like Calendar Girls that will have you laughing one minute and crying the next. It’s not Shakespeare, it’s not the best-written thing in the world, but we are proud we’ve achieved something.

“We would love to inspire people to reconnect in the way my father and I have.”

Terry added: “I get goosebumps whenever I pick the book up. I’ve got the writing bug. I’ve already written 150 words of the second book!”

Women Of Inheritance by J. T. McGovern (a joint pen name) is available now from www.amazon.co.uk.
