A Dunstable pub restaurant is donating the “penny off the pint” saving, announced by the Chancellor, to a cancer charity this week.
The Old Sugar Loaf will give Cancer Research UK a penny for every pint sold this week up to the Easter weekend.
It’s all linked to the end of the beer duty escalator, and a 1p duty reduction on a pint.
General manager Gareth Williams said: “While we still have some beer in stock paid at the old rate, and we’re waiting for new prices from brewers, we decided the fairest thing all round was to donate Mr Osborne’s ‘penny off the pint’ to Cancer Research UK.”
