Changes could lie ahead for another Dunstable lower school, which is asking for views on an idea to extend the pupil age range.
Governors at Ashton St Peter’s Church of England VA Lower School want to hear what parents and other people in the community think about the proposal to change the age range to include older children.
The school, in Leighton Court, is canvassing views about the idea of extending the upper age range from nine to 11.
Ashton St Peter’s would have pupils ranging from four-year-old Reception children through to 11-year-olds in Year 6, if the idea goes ahead.
That would mean the school would be able to provide “a full primary provision”.
The aim is to bring the pupil age range in line with various other schools in the area.
A number of schools are changing from the existing three-tier system, with lower, middle and upper schools, to a two-tier arrangement, of primary and secondary schools.
Ashton St Peter’s head Shirley McGinty said: “These plans are about raising the standard of education for all our pupils.
“In applying to change our upper age range, it would bring us in line with other schools in the area whom we work closely with.
“We would like to hear from as many parents and other interested parties as possible.”
Now a public meeting is to be held at the school, at 6.30pm on Tuesday, February 26.
Anyone attending the meeting will be able to find out more about the proposal and ask questions.
All comments and responses received by the school will be considered by the governing body.
Governors will then decide whether to go ahead with a formal six-week statutory consultation.
If statutory notices are published, parents and other interested parties will have a further opportunity to have their say.
