The RSPCA is appealing for information after a frail, blind and elderly dog was found dumped at the side of a road in Houghton Regis earlier this month.
The Jack Russell – nicknamed ‘Reggie’ by his rescuers – was found in a layby at the top of Eddiwick Avenue, at the junction of Hillborough Crescent on Tuesday, January 8.
The RSPCA’s Kate Wright, who collected Reggie, said: “I did carry out some door knocks in the area and put up posters in a bid to find his owner, but sadly to no avail.
“The chances are that someone could have pulled into the layby and just dumped him, which is awful given the fact he is so old and also blind.
Reggie was not wearing a collar and had not been microchipped, but he had been neutered. He is white with brown patches.
He is now being cared for at the Blackberry Farm Animal Centre in Aylesbury, where RSPCA officers say he is starting to put on weight.
If you have any information about Reggie’s owner, please call the RSPCA appeal line on 0300 123 8081.
