Items include a number of ladies’ watches, gold necklaces, multi-coloured necklaces and bracelets.

Some of the more distinctive items include a silver newt brooch, a large aquamarine gemstone brooch, a ladies’ cameo brooch and a peacock feather brooch.

Two bunches of keys were recovered, one with a Chelsea FC keyring and a keyring bearing the letter ‘N’ attached to it. the other with a ‘Bedfordshire Homefinder’ keyring.

Officers working in the South Beds burglary unit are urging anyone who recognises any of the items to get in touch.

Det Con Matthew Stonnell – who is leading the investigation – said: “We have recovered this property and the person found with them cannot explain why he had the items in his possession and this is why we suspect the jewellery and other items have been stolen.”
